Q&A Session Post the Economic Times Award

At the start of our journey, faced many challenges since we were one of the first few companies to focus on data driven solutions and recommending a digital approach for B2B businesses. In India particularly, at the time, the 3G and online businesses had not even come into existence. However, over time we were able to use this to our advantage and we seized the opportunity to enlighten our customers in a new way of doing business.

With our sheer grit and endurance, business has been flourishing even during the on-going pandemic. Since our businesses are wide-spread, some sectors like real estate and retail have been slow moving. However, we have introduced ecommerce as a channel for our brick and mortar stores so that customers get what they need on their fingertips, with an on-demand click. Transitioning to this online journey has thus far been a very positive change, and since we have always been a digital first company this shift was effortless for our teams.

The biggest learning for me in my career has been that I’ve never been shy of experimenting – be it in trying new ventures or dabbling in different areas of my interest. It’s important that we be curious, and experiment, and subsequently even if we fail, we shouldn’t hold back to recover and win over the challenges that we face.

Inspired by our own experiences, we tell young leaders within the organization that, “Falling as you run is absolutely fine. But leaders who change course fast enough will steer the ship to magical destinations and those who are slow to act will lose relevance with the market.”

Not just in business, but even in life – it’s very important to stay curious and experiment; it’s what keeps life interesting!

At Champions Group, we have built a platform for new-age women, leaders & professionals, those who have already started their business and for those who want to launch their next step.

For women entrepreneurs who have a fire to showcase their talent and grow there are multiple opportunities to explore. No dream is too big to belittle human ambition and we are interested in collaborating with the brightest minds to make the future happen together.

At Champions Group, we represent an organization that has no glass ceilings. We do not have pre-conceived notions about privilege or the lack of it. Our motto is to have our employees and new-age collaborators focus on performance irrespective of their background – to think on their feet and be committed towards a future that is shared and sustainable.

We have carefully created a culture of family bonding within the organization which is evidently displayed by our employees. The Champions family does not have biases in running its affairs and takes bold steps with our women employees leading from the front.

As I was raised in a house hold where women and men both were treated equally and we women were encouraged to speak our mind, we have made a conscious effort to encourage an open culture at Champions Group too.

I practice the same at my work place as well; we are all champions – not champion men or champion women. We have women working across all ages and all domains in our organization, and time and again they have performed their roles with utmost diligence and excellence. I strongly believe that women do bring creativity and multitasking in the roles presented to them.

My advice for women entrepreneurs is to develop a big vision and the strength that is required to reach the destination. You need an unwavering focus towards the end-goal, irrespective of the many challenges that lie ahead. There will be times when you would have to juggle many hats and unexpected turns are bound to appear in your journey. What matters is how you are able to push forward with creativity and innovative instincts.

The one special area where I feel women can make a big difference is through their emotional intelligence and unshakable resolve. Women leaders from the likes of Indra Gandhi to Indra Nooyi have shown us what it means to have the ability to always project the best of yourself and stand-up for your beliefs. To never be apologetic is something that women entrepreneurs need to practice; to live life on your own terms is in fact within your own perspectives and purviews.

So, if you imagine the glass ceiling to be there, the journey becomes that much more challenging. But, if you are confident about your abilities and intentions, then no matter which ceiling, the innovator within will prevail.

To be innovative is not necessarily something that always comes out from a lab or in a physical form. Women entrepreneurs can show the world how to think innovatively and craft new business models.

They have the power to make alliances and partnerships work in ways never imagined before. It is through our women entrepreneurs that the world will realize that building relationships is equally or more important than simply battling the competition.

The choice is yours – Build Relationships or Just Build Battle strategies.

The former holds far greater value, and that is precisely what we at Champions Group believe in. It is one of the core strengths and we are helping next-gen women entrepreneurs imbibe it innovatively. So, start forging these alliances and let us together build your bridge to the future.

The meaning of leadership is evolving with the never normal reality of our times. However, we see this as a window of opportunity to emerge stronger, smarter and sharper. That’s how we are able to envision innovative business models, leadership and thinking on our future-ready path.

We believe that in today’s scenario, the world needs leaders who are emotionally agile – those who can move on, move really fast, and transform even faster.

Shaping transformation at velocity has been one of our top, long-standing endevours. With transformation as the end-goal, the one winning mantra that we have perfected to help more entrepreneurs and organization leaders thrive is – “Never Be Afraid of Experimenting”.

Manifesting the Leadership Mantra
We have always encouraged leaders within our organization as well as our partners and entrepreneurs to – “Learn to Fail Fast, Transform Into Success Faster”. We have always encouraged them to adapt and win over challenges by experimenting quickly.

Our experience tells us that if there is anything that we can call our constant companion, it is our life challenges, professional challenges and business challenges.

What matters is how we befriend any challenge as our teacher and evolve at the speed of change that life demands.

Like Charles Darwin said – “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent; it is the one most adaptable to change.”

The same is in fact true for organizations and leaders today, and those who are capable of responding to challenges faster will emerge as the winners.

Every enterprise is a ship of dreams. It defines our destination and a bright future for every employee. This ship requires sailors with unquestionable commitment to reach the desired destination.

This requires emotional intelligence to move on and adapt faster. We are developing such emotional agility by cultivating a sense of co-ownership within our organization.

This is how at Champions Group, our culture empowers every employee to proactively own up their responsibilities and go much beyond. We practice this as our Winning Champion’s Formula with team & community huddles and process that have been perfected over our journey of two decades. This leadership mantra is helping us create more Champion entrepreneurs and partners with whom we take this journey together.

At Champions we celebrate the diversity in our employees, our team is spread over India, US and UAE and each individual brings in wonderful aspects of their culture in the work environment. We have the excellent opportunity to learn from one another’s culture. Furthermore, we also have differently abled workers in our champion team and we take pride in providing an inclusive work environment for all of them.
